Agia Galini is a large seaside village, occupying the furthest north end of Rethymno. It is located at the boundaries of Heraklion, built amphitheatrically on the east side of the rocky extremities providing excellent environment and wonderful climate.
On the quiet beaches you can enjoy the Mediterranean sun, while there are many cultural monuments nearby, such as the ruins of the ancient Roman city of Gortynia and the unforgettable palace of Minos in Phaistos. It is a popular tourist destination that provides all the comforts to its guests. In the village you will find many options for accommodation, food, entertainment, medical services, post office, banks, shops etc. West of Agia Galini, along the coastline, there are wonderful steep caves that are only accessible by boat.
What makes Agia Galini special is the amphitheatrical layout of the houses, offering a wonderful view of the harbor and bay of Messara, while the view from the harbor to the village standing on the hill is equally beautiful, especially during the dusk and the night.
